Route 4: The Cave of the TAYOS.- The fourth Route that we offer in the Labyrinths of Chiguaza, there are hundreds of caves in the Eastern zone where the birds called TAYOS or GUACHAROS live.
ROUTE 4: Cave of the Tayos.-It is a dedicated route for adventurous people and you have a medium experience in jungle trekking.
The Route begins in the early hours of the morning (08H: 00 to 09H00H), and we are back after 17: 00H, a transport is included if you do not have it, a cold lonch or ranch, safety equipment, lighting equipment and normally two guides, for security.
An hour and a half of trekking in the jungle until you reach the mouth of the entrance, a small descent and we start the entrance of the cave that is more than one and a half kilometers long. A few meters from the entrance you can already see and hear the famous birds called Tayos.
Logically the main attraction are the birds called Tayos, but of them there is something very special that they are the nests that they make to lay their eggs, they do it of mud, they are nocturnal birds perfectly adapted to the dark, they feed on fruits and insects.
On the way, from the cave there is an underground creek, as advances are made formations such as Stalactites, bitumen sprouts, water springs, among other wonders of Nature, being the wet area, you have to be careful when stepping on since There are many slippery places.
